Transactional Associate, Entry to Mid-Level – Berkeley, CA
Our Berkeley Office is looking for a lawyer who’s passionate about
Technology, Copyright, Trademark, and Entertainment Law for our growing
Do you want to work with startups and other creative enterprises, building their businesses, and protecting their creations?
Our entrepreneurial law firm is looking for an attorney who can hit
the ground running, a team player willing to take ownership, handle
direct contact with clients, and who is consistent, organized,
and incredibly detail oriented.
Skills and experience are necessary and valued but your personality,
character, intelligence, and integrity are just as important. We are
looking for attorneys who already have a little experience and are
hungry for knowledge. If you are willing to learn, we will teach you. We
are attentive mentors to our associates.
We are growing, and you will be called upon to wear many hats.
Although we are much more laid back than a typical big-law firm, we
prioritize our clients, and we won’t sell them short or miss
deadlines. We value and support work life balance, but we
have reasonable billing minimums you will be expected to
reach. TorMark Law and Tor Ekeland Law iare not “big law” but our
clients expect premium service from us, and that’s what they get.
We have offices in New York and California, and we practice in federal courts all over the country.
Salary is commensurate with skill and experience. We provide Medical,
Dental, Vision, and 401(k) and intend to add additional benefits soon.
There will be opportunities for merit bonuses. The Firm also pays for
continuing legal education, bar dues, and admissions, and believes that
being a lawyer involves constant education and training. Please apply
only if you are intellectually curious and motivated.
We will consider candidates with knowledge or experience in at least
one or two of these areas of law: copyright, trademark, privacy,
cyberlaw, business formation, entertainment, or other areas of law that
are critical to entrepreneurs and creatives industries. You don’t need
to know all of them, but we prefer an associate is knowledgeable about
some. You’ll learn the rest.
Although we are hiring for a transactional position, and
transactional and advisory work should be your first interest, you can
expect to participate in some of the firms’ litigation and other
adversarial matters. You might make occasional court appearances on
behalf of our litigation clients (which, at least for now, are
virtual). Please keep in that mind before you apply.
Must be admitted to practice in California. For the right candidate,
we will consider applicants who graduated from an ABA-accredited law
school with admission pending.
If this exciting opportunity appeals to you, we look forward to
reviewing your resume. Please follow these instructions. APPLICATIONS
THAT DO NOT FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
